SEBI mulls ‘one event, one penalty’ rule to ease brokers’ compliance burden

Currently, brokers who fail to meet regulatory or statutory requirements within the prescribed timeframe face multiple penalties, as each exchange imposes its own fine for the same violation. SEBI aims to change this by ensuring that a single penalty is levied per instance of non-compliance, rather than separate fines from multiple exchanges.
