The upcoming six-month period has historically been such a bad stretch for the stock market that Wall Street has an adage for it: “Sell in May and go away.”

Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 59,000 units last month as against 45,199 units in the year-ago period, a growth of 30.5 per cent, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd said in a regulatory filing.

Domestic sales were at 30,159 units as compared to 24,833 units in April 2025, up 21 per cent, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.

While the expiry of the lock-in does not necessarily translate into immediate selling pressure, it often remains a key trigger for investors tracking supply overhang. Four of the six companies are currently trading below their issue price.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki retained its top position but reported a decline to 1.58 lakh units, compared to 1.75 lakh units in March. Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra also saw moderation, with April sales at 57,472 units and 54,897…

Microsoft could stage a comeback as the technology firm’s AI push starts to show signs of paying off, several analysts said.

“AMZN is adding the most AI capacity of any company over the next few years, and as the coming wave of Agentic AI products take form, all roads lead to AWS,” one analyst said.

The company’s total sales for April rose 14% year-on-year to 94,627 units. Passenger vehicle sales grew at a relatively moderate pace, rising 8% to 56,331 units compared to 52,330 units in the same month last year.

All trading and settlement activities, on the exchanges, including equity, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), equity derivatives, and interest rate derivates, are suspended on Friday.
