The Nifty 50 fell 233 points to close at 24,363, while the Sensex declined 765 points to end at 79,857. The Nifty Bank index shed 516 points to settle at 55,004, and the Nifty Midcap index lost 936 points, or nearly 2%, to finish at 56,002. All frontline indices ended over 1% lower, closing at their day’s low, and all sectoral indices were in the red.
