US steel imports from India are relatively small. If Donald Trump imposes fresh tariffs on imported steel and aluminium, it would make the exporting companies less competitive and shrink their profit margins. The fear of Trump tariffs has led to the fourth sharp fall in India’s metal stocks since the start of 2025.
