Once operational, it will reduce the journey to the Himalayan shrine from an 8-9 hour trek to just 36 minutes of scenic airborne travel. The ropeway will have a carrying capacity of 1,800 passengers per hour per direction, catering to the nearly 20 lakh pilgrims who visit Kedarnath annually.
